Electron Microscopy Courses
The Utrecht Cell Microscopy Center course series have been established since 1999. It started as a workshop dealing with the Tokuyasu technique under supervision of Dr Jan Willem Slot, who learned the technique in the laboratory of Dr Tokuyasu and successfully transferred it to Utrecht. In the Cell Biology laboratory the technique was refined and perfected. Especially the development of immuno-gold markers in different sizes boosted the usefulness of the technique: it allowed visualisation of more than one molecule in the same section. Later high pressure freezing and a basic resin sectioning part were added to the course. This formula was very successful: more than 300 people attended our courses in the past years. More recently we decided to focus on correlative light and electron microscopy while the basics are also being taught. We now offer 3 different courses:
- Resin Electron microscopy -June 2022.
- Cryosectioning and Immuno-Electron Microscopy (optional extension with on-section Correlative Light & Electron Microscopy) -June 2022.
- Advanced course correlative light and electron microscopy (September)
